How LuaNet works

LuaNet runs the Luanti server on the Android device. The app manages profiles, engines, content, backups and server state. NovaX is only used when you enable an external link.

LuaNet running server dashboard overview

The normal flow

01

Create a server profile

Choose the name, Luanti engine, port, map generator, player limit and gameplay options.

02

Install a game

Open ContentDB, pick a game, review badges and install required dependencies.

03

Add mods or ZIP content

Use ContentDB for catalog installs, or the separate ZIP importer for worlds, games and mods.

04

Start the server

LuaNet launches an isolated native Luanti process and keeps Android informed with a foreground service.

05

Connect locally

On the same phone use 127.0.0.1. On the same Wi-Fi use the phone's LAN address.

06

Use an external link when needed

Sign in and enable External link only when friends outside the network need to join.

Server profiles

Each profile has its own world, game, mods, settings, backups and selected engine. Profiles are isolated so changing one server does not rewrite another one.

Luanti engines

The base app includes the latest engine. Older ARM64 engines are installed on demand and then reused by any profile that selects that version.

ContentDB

The in-app browser shows games and mods with screenshots, package badges and details. Required dependencies are installed automatically after confirmation.

Runtime state

Server state comes from the running process, Luanti logs and local data. If a process dies, LuaNet shows the crash state and a support code instead of pretending the server is still starting.

Players and console

The app reads online players, known offline players and privileges from local Luanti data. Player actions are checked after execution so the UI rolls back if the action failed.

Backups

Backups include the world and server configuration, including the engine version used at the time. They can be restored or deleted from the Backups menu.

Local by default

What stays on the phone

World files, chat, player names, console logs, installed games, mods, server settings and backups stay in app-private storage unless you export them.

Read the privacy policy

LuaNet handles locally

  • Luanti server process and lifecycle
  • Worlds, games and mods
  • Console logs and player metadata
  • Backups and restore points
  • LAN hosting without account or ads

Need the address for friends outside your Wi-Fi?

Use External link. It creates a NovaX tunnel without uploading the world.
